Try practicing some of these common Life Coach Job interview questions:

1.    Are you familiar with the life coaching process?

How to answer:  The interviewer may ask this question to see if you have experience with the life coaching process and how it works. If you’re interviewing for your first life coach position, you can explain that you’ve worked as a coach before but haven’t used the life coaching process. You can also mention that you are willing to learn about the process if hired.

Answer:  “I am familiar with the life coaching process because I’ve worked as a career coach in the past. However, I would be happy to learn more about the life coaching process if hired here. The life coaching process is very similar to the career coaching process, so I think I could adapt quickly.”

2.    How do you create a safe and supportive environment for your clients?

How to answer:   A life coach needs to create a safe and supportive environment for their clients. This question helps the interviewer determine how you will help your client feel comfortable during the coaching process. Use examples from past experiences where you helped your clients feel supported and encouraged.

Answer:  “I believe that creating a safe and supportive environment is one of the most important parts of being a life coach. I always make sure my clients know they can trust me, and I am always open to hearing what they have to say. In my last role as a life coach, I had a client who was struggling with anxiety. She told me she felt like she could never overcome it. I reassured her that everyone has bad days, but we all can get through them.”

3.    Provide an example of a time when you helped a client make a significant change in their life.

How to answer:  This question can help interviewers understand how you approach your work and the impact it has on clients. When answering this question, try to describe a specific situation in which you helped a client achieve their goals or overcome challenges.

Answer:   “I had a client who was struggling with her self-confidence. She felt like she wasn’t good enough at her job and didn’t feel comfortable speaking up in meetings. We worked together for several weeks to develop strategies that would help her feel more confident in her daily life. After our sessions, she started feeling more confident about herself and her career. Eventually, she began standing up for herself in meetings and asking for promotions.”

Not every question you will encounter when interviewing for the Life Coach Position will be related to supporting public mental healthcare jobs. But those are the common topics interviewer can ask for selecting a qualified candidate.
