Answer:  “The two most important skills for a motivational speaker are public speaking and communication skills. These skills allow me to connect with my audience and inspire them to achieve their goals. I also think it’s important to be passionate about what you’re talking about, as this helps me stay energized throughout my presentation.”

 

2. Provide an example of a time when you motivated someone to take action.

 

How to answer:   This question can help interviewers understand how you use your skills to motivate others. Use examples from your experience as a motivational speaker, or if you’re new to the role, describe an example of when you motivated someone in another capacity.

After our meeting, my client implemented several of the strategies we discussed and saw positive results.”

 

3. How well do you handle criticism?

                                                          

How to answer:  As a motivational speaker, you may receive feedback from your audience. Employers ask this question to make sure you can handle constructive criticism and use it to improve your speaking skills. In your answer, explain that you welcome feedback and try to learn something new every time someone gives you advice. Explain that you are willing to take on board any suggestions people give you.

 

Answer:   “I am always open to receiving feedback about my speeches. I know that everyone has different opinions, so I never get offended by what they say. Instead, I try to learn as much as I can from the experience. If someone tells me that I need to change something, I will do my best to implement their suggestion in my next speech.”
